Renal Friends Gathering Brings Everyone Together
In order to provide more comprehensive care for renal patients across body, mind and at a societal level, Tzu Chi Singapore launched an initiative aimed at deepening care for renal patients. On this day, a tea party was held, inviting both patients and their families to attend.
Thoughtfully arranged transportation enabled 52 renal patients and their families to gather at the Tzu Chi Humanistic Youth Centre to participate in a tea party and relax.
Renal Patient, Sin Mei Leng: Apart from going out for dialysis, my husband rarely takes me out. It is not very convenient for him because he has leg pain. Of course, I am very happy to be able to come out (today).
Dietitian: If we do not use the toilet for many days, the potassium will stay in our body, which will lead to a high potassium index after a while.
A dietitian and a nephrologist were invited to answer the questions that most renal friends have. In the case of a restricted diet, as long as they pay attention to some details, they can also eat healthily
Charity Development Associate, Alex Chen Jincai: In fact, renal patients not only encounter physical challenges, they also need a lot of our comfort psychologically. Such an activity today allows them to come to know and learn from each other's life stories, and more importantly, inspire one other.
Renal Patient: At certain times, I just feel down but they come and talk to me and cheer me up.
Renal Patient, Marsana: It is a very good show. Especially for us dialysis patients, if you don’t have any support, and don’t have an open mind, it is honestly negative, you will always think from the negative side.
The interaction and companionship between people have added warmth to the dialysis journey of these renal patients.
