Daai Airlines “Takes off” at Tzu Shao Online Camp
The two-day Tzu Shao Camp could only be conducted online due to the pandemic restrictions. The planning team displayed their creativity by coming up with the idea of Daai Airlines, allowing the Tzu Shao to "go abroad", together with interesting games and vivid dramas, and integrating the "Sow the Seeds of Good Life" lessons from the past year into the course, enabling the Tzu Shao to have a fun time learning.
Host: Everyone please double check your name on the boarding pass and turn on the video. We are about to take off!
Tzushao: We are now in Haiti.
Flying to Africa, Haiti, the Philippines and Turkey. During the two-day online camp, 60 Tzu Shao took the Daai Airlines and travelled the world.
Sheryl Lim, Tzu Chi Volunteer: We thought that since we still can’t go abroad during this period, so we have this Daai Airlines theme for this camp. Bringing in the Four Methods of Embracing, and applying all the things that they have learned throughout the year in their behaviour.
However, the plane was hijacked midway, and the Tzu Shao needed to work together and apply what they have learned to resolve the crisis. The incorporation of drama performance was also a major breakthrough in the online classes in the past year.
Chee Chen Sin, Tzu Chi volunteer: If it’s solely the lecturer talking, watching the videos, watching the ppt, it is actually quite boring. When we integrate the learning materials into drama, it becomes very vivid and better conveys the contents of our course, helping the Tzu Shao to be more receptive.
Vince Shu, Tzu Shao: The Tzu Shao lessons in the past two years have been very rich and interesting. I think the efforts made by the Tzu Ching, Tzu Chi uncles and aunts is to enable young people to better understand Buddhism, because Buddhism is not so simple to teach and understand.
Upon reuniting, the graduating Tzu Shao also shared about their transformation and gains over the years.
Koh Zheng Yang, Tzu Shao: The course teaches us how to be a human. There are principles such as the Eightfold Paths, gratitude, respect and love, and these have helped me understand how to get along with others.
Vince Shu, Tzu Shao: The part where I have matured the most would be being able to understand more about the burden of my parents, (now I become) more independent, and also work harder academically, don’t make them worry.
Learning and growing through having fun, (the teenagers) have become more mature and sensible after one year.
