A different celebration of Parents' Day amidst COVID-19
To celebrate the upcoming Parents’ Day, a series of online filial piety activities were jointly held by Great Love PreSchool, Parent-Child Bonding Class, Great Love Student Care Centre and Teenagers' Class. Besides the heart-warming family interactive session, the children also learned to thank their parents by serving tea and bathing their feet. Amid the pandemic, even if they did not go out to celebrate Parents’ Day, this special day was still filled with love and warmth.
Teenagers' Class --- Heart to Heart: Mom and dad were beside me for the whole night when I was hospitalised. They did not go home.
The fond memories of their parent-child moments together have filled their heart with warmth.
Teenagers' Class: Parent-child moment --- Kids, feel the hands of your parents. Have they turned rough? Look out for calluses on their hands.

Parent, Goh Heng Tak, Sim Shei Ting: (I feel that my kid has) grown up a bit, more mature now. We feel consoled.
Parent, Gao Jinlian: I do feel touched because she’s still small, we hardly let her do anything. It feels different as if we have switched roles.
From preschool to parent-child bonding class, serving tea to parents and foot bathing session are done annually. For the past 7 years, 11-year-old Yi Xin and 9-year-old Yi Qing have been showing their love for their parents through actions.
Parent-Child Bonding Class student, Phoon Yi Xin: I think the purpose of serving tea to parents is to thank them for taking care of us and supporting us.
Parent, Lee Yuen Kuan: I feel touched each year differently. The tea ceremony is a simple Chinese tradition but it carries gratitude, respect and love. This exercise enables them to learn and practise the teachings of Jing Si Aphorisms in life.
Parent-Child Bonding Class student, Phoon Yi Xin: Within my ability, I can help my parents and try not to make them angry. Take good care of myself before I take care of others.
Parent-Child Bonding Class student, Phoon Yi Qing: My daddy and mommy have been beside me since I was small. I love daddy and mommy.
Even though they couldn’t go out to celebrate the special day amid a pandemic, a cup of tea and a simple act are enough to express the love in their heart, filling this Parents’ Day with love and warmth.
